As part of the broad offensive on all aspects of Palestinian existence in the West Bank waged by Israel since October 2023 through official forces and settlers, attacks on Palestinians who make their living raising sheep, goats and cattle have intensified, and livestock theft has become routine. In the first five months of 2026, B’Tselem documented 17 incidents of sheep theft from Palestinians. While such thefts have occurred in previous years, some of the recent incidents appeared more organized, and in eight of them, soldiers watched over the settlers as they stole the animals.

Amid the ongoing genocide, Gaza’s food crisis worsens with closure of World Central Kitchen centers
Immediately after the Hamas-led attack on 7 October 2023, Israel imposed a total blockade on Gaza. In the months that followed, it intermittently barred the entry of food and water through land crossings under its control. It also destroyed most of the civilian infrastructure for food production and distribution. The aid Israel has allowed in, following international pressure, has been severely inadequate for the population’s needs…

Current page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 … Next page Last page Israel’s regime of apartheid and occupation is inextricably bound up in human rights violations. B’Tselem strives to end this regime, as that is the only way forward to a future in which human rights, democracy, liberty and equality are ensured to all people, both Palestinian and Israeli, living between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
Since the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023, Israel has acted in a coordinated and deliberate manner to destroy Palestinian society in the Gaza Strip, committing genocide against its residents. In light of Israel’s actions in Gaza, the public statements made by Israeli decision-makers, and the international community’s failure to take effective action, there is a serious risk that the Israeli regime will expand the genocide to other areas under its control—first and foremost, the West Bank. B’Tselem calls on the Israeli public and the international community to use every tool available under international law to bring an immediate end to Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people.
